My name is Carol V. Abney. I am the founding owner of Abney CPA PLLC, doing business as Artemis CPA. On land, we are located in Celina, TN, but virtually, we are nationwide. I have over 15 years of experience helping run a small business with my husband at Randell’s Garage, also located in Celina.

One of my biggest regrets in life was not having the opportunity or the resources to attend college after I graduated from Celina High School in 1990, so I changed that for myself. At the age of 38, I started community college with the notion that I would make the most of my time in school and do everything exactly as I would have wanted to in 1990. I enrolled at Vol State Community College in the fall of 2010 and received an Associate’s of Science Degree in Business and Commerce in 2012. Upon graduating with a 4.0 GPA, I received numerous honors including the Ruff award for student leadership excellence, the Mary Cole Nichols award for improving student life, and a scholarship to attend Tennessee Tech University.
During my time at Tennessee Tech, I received several distinctions including the Maxie O. Patten award for TTU’s top accounting student, a lifetime membership to both Beta Gamma Sigma and Mortar Board, and numerous other scholarships and accolades. I served as the Vice President for the Accounting Club, the Fundraising Chair and later President for Beta Alpha Psi, the national premier honor society for accounting and finance students in college. I also completed more challenging courses in order to fulfill the requirement for the Honor’s Program at TTU, a very difficult accomplishment. I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) in 2014 with a 3.86 GPA.
At that time, I was fortunate enough to be awarded a graduate assistantship and full scholarship to the Masters of Business Administration program at Tennessee Tech, where I received my MBA (focused in Accounting) in August of 2015. I obtained my CPA license from the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy in March of 2017, and opened my own firm in August of 2017. While I was in college, I studied abroad twice-undergraduate international accounting in London, and graduate international economics in Brazil. I definitely made the most of my time in college.

I currently serve on the board of directors for the Clay County Museum, the Upper Cumberland Tennessee Society of CPAs, and the Clay County Educational Foundation, promoting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. I believe in striving to be a good citizen by serving others, and I chase perfection in my personal life as well as my professional career. My husband and I have three fur kids and we live in the most beautiful place on earth, where the trees go for miles, the lake visibility is usually around 10 feet on a clear day, and the sunsets are sweeter than apple pie. I love meeting new people, which people say is unusual for a CPA, but I disagree because I think we are the ‘Coolest Profession Around’.
